It is amazing how difficult we make the process of recognizing what we have always been. We focus on postures, diets, sounds, smells, deities, codes of conduct, etc., when none of those phenomena have anything directly to do with Truth, which transcends them all. We are not our mind, body, or our beliefs, so looking to these for our essence is a futile quest.
When asked why he robs banks, Willie Sutton replied, “Because that is where the money is.” If we want to find Infinity, perhaps we should look where the infinite is most easily recognized. Notice the still Awareness that never changes. As St. Francis of Assisi stated, “What we are looking for is what is looking.” Truth is eternally present awareness. It is what notices the posture, sees the diet, hears the sounds, etc., but it is not a product of any of these. Truth is easily recognized by noticing what is looking. This is not a project for the future, it is a call to recognize what is looking at this very moment. Right now!
