This is a subtle, but commonly misunderstood, point. Our years of identifying as a person often leave us thinking we are a person who is aware of Awareness. This is a nice, silent point of individual experience, so it can be tempting to stay there, but it is not Freedom. Stop and look closely at the experience. Is there a someone present experiencing the Awareness? Out of habit, the egoic mind wants to hang on to the illusion you are an individual experiencing Awareness. However, like every other thought, that belief, too, is illusory. Awareness is prior to thoughts; Awareness is what sees the thoughts. It is even before the thought, “I am.” The thought, “I am,” is often the last thought seen through because it is the first thought believed.
