This week we cut down a Christmas tree at a local Christmas tree farm with our children and our 13-month-old granddaughter. This has been our family tradition for many years. Our granddaughter took this opportunity to remind us of the importance of honoring all life.

She picked out the Christmas tree and was all smiles as her dad leaned down to examine the tree’s base.  The smile turned to momentary horror when she saw the tree fall to its side. As her grandmother honored the tree and explained its new role sharing the joy and love of the season, her concern melted into an understanding smile.

Too often we forget to take those moments in life to honor all Life’s expressions. The innocent eyes of a child remind us to honor all life, and every moment is an opportunity to share that understanding.

Happy Holidays.
